Unicorn Store

There’s a lot to like in Brie Larson’s directorial debut, from the health number of good jokes to its principled use of eye-grabbing colors to its central premise being a loose metaphor for finally getting your shit together, so my indifference to it comes not from a lack of good in it. Its good moments are in diminishing short supply, though, once the first act is behind, and the film meanders until its big dumb inspirational finish; you can tell the script was written by a sitcom veteran. Those with a higher whimsy tolerance might get more out of this.
