The Holy Demon Army (Akira Taue and Toshiaki Kawada) vs. Big Bubba / Big Boss Man and “Dr. Death” Steve Williams, from AJPW Real World Tag League 1993 Night 16

This was weird. The gaijin were heels, Kawada worked babyface, and Taue worked tweener, so Boss Man and Williams would work over Kawada’s leg to get the guy some sympathy and he’d tag out to Taue, which would get a cheer, and then Taue would do something underhanded, which would get jeers, and then the crowd would grow silent. This herky-jerky pacing meant there wasn’t much of a story or memorable feel, though the match was far from awful. Bubba proved he could’ve worked if he couldn’t ever coast on his WWF aura; there’s not much to say beyond that.
