Pokemon Trading Card Game (video game, played on Switch for review)

The progression system here is the most backwards I’ve experienced in an RPG, where low stakes matches at the beginning are won by the slimmest of margins while the climactic fights at the end are walks in the park. The “random” number generator that determines coin flips is both transparent in its outcomes (even young John understood it’s as fixed as the RNG in a graphing calculator, only more obviously scripted) and weighed against the player, possibly a necessary feature to give the pants-on-head stupid AI something to make them competitive down the stretch. I still like it anyway. Whatever.
