Memoir of a Snail

From the plot structure to making the theme of not belonging central to the film to the use of evocative leitmotifs, Memoir of a Snail is about as much as follow-up to Mary and Max as you could expect. It’s not a carbon copy as Snail is much more of a dramatic character study, but it is a step down in most regards, not really a wholehearted demerit but worth noting regardless. One thing I did enjoy over Elliot’s previous was the choice of having the protagonist be the narrator; it works wonders to ensure this tale feels truly personal.
