Obsession (2026 film)
The artistic and purposeful use of shadows. The death dirge of a soundtrack, pausing almost exclusively for levity to reel us further into this world. The uncomfortably familiar writing, not just of how the horror arrives and manifests but from offering a reflection of the times and how, supernatural plot device notwithstanding, this isn’t dissimilar from interpersonal relationships all over the world. The statements on abuse, and manipulation, and complicity, and male fragility. Above all, what shines most is Ide Navarrette’s star-making performance, victim and frightening force of chaos all in one. There won’t be a better film in 2026.
