Mary and Max
I’m afraid most would look past this due to the promotional material painting it as a weird, sardonic, and sad film. Mary and Max, in fairness, is all of those things, but it’s also laugh-out-loud funny in conventional manners the neurotypicals would respond well to (probably, y’all are weird). It’s also flexible enough with its approach to not be pigeonholed into being one kind of film; the depression and feelings of alienation are the subject of comedic bits, but they’re never made to feel invalid for having these emotions. Arguably the most underrated animated film of the past twenty years.
