Lee Cronin’s The Mummy

Let’s disregard the title, the franchise, and all that entails and try to judge this on how successful it is at what it’s trying. Fine: it’s a failure, handicapped from the first act when the doctors let a young woman seemingly deep in a state of decomposition go home (this is a drama, by the way) and doomed by an excruciating second act where the cast take their sweet time learning there’s a mummy in this movie. The gore impresses but the similar Bring Her Back was even more unsettling while also earning its emotional resonance. Dumb and not fun.
