Casino (1995 film)

There’s no dancing around the similarities with Goodfellas—extensive narration, the use of montages, daunting runtime—as well as that it isn’t anywhere close to being as good as Goodfellas. The spiritual predecessor had a better story, better pacing, and better use of narration; the only thing Casino does better is horrify with its violence (consider that your warning, those of weak constitution). That said, drop the comparison and Casino is a breezy watch, horrible people screwing each other over in hysterical fashion for three hours while Scorsese barely avoids an NC-17 rating for violence. No classic, but heartily recommended.
