Bad Axe (2022 film)

Whether it is Making Big Statements About Our Society or providing an intimate look into a tightly knit family without making us feel intrusive, Bad Axe, save the part where the 2020 election is posited as synecdoche for the evils of racism being vanquished, is a handsome success. It is gorgeously shot without drawing attention to its craft, the subject matter are strong and likable personalities even when they’re in conflict with each other, and the theme of life in COVID resembling Cambodia’s worst days worked well on me. Probably would get more love if it enjoyed far greater distribution.
