Aliens (1986 film)

Aliens suffers for its inevitable comparisons, to the authorial complete Alien and to Cameron’s other horror-action hybrid T2. (Some prefer this to Alien? Allegedly? Somehow?) That said, this is a damn great film, the first half of which is basically an unsettling stroll through a graveyard before getting to the shooty bang bang stuff everyone remembers, and that action is kinetic and taut; anyone who says Aliens is full of Marines mowing down xenomorph keister must not have seen the film in a while. It’s a segmented film but the segments all work; even the kid actor pulled their weight.
