XO, Kitty (Season One)

An emotionless synopsis of what happens in this season doubtlessly reads as exhausting, perhaps even annoying—the main character no-sells getting hit by a car in the first five minutes, for starters, and a busybody subplot involving secret babies and lost connections takes up more time than you’d predict. It’s the hysterical execution that keeps this engaging, no ego about making our cast eat crow in service of a gag while taking care it doesn’t undermine the tangled web of relationships. Cathcart, Lord willing, is a star in the making; this whole thing might’ve fallen apart with a less-skilled lead.
