Twin Peaks (Season One) (revisited)
Okay: pacing itself to be one of the all-time greats, greatest pilot episode of all time, A+ soundtrack, and about as good as you could realistically have hoped for given network standards of the time. We’re all in agreement on that, right? That said, the bitter pill here is it begins outstanding and ends well, and there’s no way to regard that as anything besides a drop in quality. The most superfluous episodes are the ones without the co-creators at the helm, as though they’re biding time until the next big plot beat can happen. Amazing, often; otherwise, very good.
