Spotlight (2016 film)

How much you’re going to get out of “Spotlight” depends in large part how you process media. It is an Important Story with a bevy of lessons to learn from with a solid ensemble that ensures it remains engaging throughout, and if that’s what you demand from the books, films, television shows, and other forms of media you consume, “Spotlight” will successfully occupy two hours of your life. As art, though, “Spotlight” is most kindly described as “functional”, with nothing in the direction or editing that demands to be seen on the big screen. It’s a fine film, nothing more.
