Splatterhouse 2 (Genesis version)

There’s a lot to appreciate about the look, sound, and feel of “Splatterhouse 2”. Horror games made in the style of this era were few and far between for a variety of reasons, but the art in this and “Clock Tower” proves there was so much unmined potential using this aesthetic. It’s too bad S2 doesn’t play all that well. The first level plays like a gory version of “Kung Fu”, and the rest plays like it’s trying to take quarters from you (though, props for having unlimited continues). Horror diehards might be able to better forgive the trial-and-error gameplay.
