Project Hail Mary (2026 film)
Above all its other highs and lows, from another winning Gosling performance to the feast of visuals that make something as banal as looking at molecules enthralling to the eight million instances that could have served as the emotional denouement before the actual denouement presents itself (y’all couldn’t have gotten that runtime down?), what sticks out to me the most here is Pemberton’s score and how it’s used. Project Hail Mary is basically two-and-a-half hours of Mickey Mousing, the soundtrack serving as consistent commentary and reflection on what we’re seeing, and the effect never wore thin for the film’s duration.
