Holy Demon Army (Akira Taue and Toshiaki Kawada) vs. Super Generation Army (Jun Akiyama and Mitsuharu Misawa) (the 1996 Real World Tag League finals) from All Japan Real World Tag League Night Sixteen

It says something about the standards set by early 90s AJPW that this, an outstanding contest brimming with emotion and brutal slams, is nowhere close to the best match (or even the best tag match) of the era. Akiyama is the young gun here, eager to make a name for himself and probably would have done a better job of it if Taue and Kawada weren’t fans of big murder; the funniest part down the stretch comes when Misawa goes for a tag and remembers “oh, right, Akiyama probably broke his neck two minutes ago”. A half-hour of pure fun.
