Grand Theft Hamlet
The worst part, to me, was how some obviously staged elements were played as completely authentic. Fair enough to redo some funny moments that happened on stream for a better shot of the action, but Theft also wants to be a rumination on existence or whatever and seeing actors try to wax philosophical on their real lives amid “candid” conversation took me out of the moment. For the most part, though, this oddity works, with Shakespeare’s greatest work being filtered through bad mics and being interrupted with the occasional drive-by never failing to amuse. The Bard would’ve approved, maybe, probably.
