Brazil (1985 film) (132-minute cut watched for review)

From landing all of its millions of jokes (many of them spectacularly) to its meaningful social commentary that, among its many applications, had me wondering how Gilliam could have predicted ICE to its outstanding use of practical effects that have it looking better than most films made in the past twenty-five years, I can’t say enough positive things about Brazil. The ending seems to be a point of contention, both in interpretation and arguable quality, but without getting into spoilers, I thought it fit the story like a glove. On par with Gilliam’s later 12 Monkeys, if not outright better.
