Beef (Season Two)

If the first season was Seligman’s Bottoms, this season is Seligman’s Shiva Baby, retaining much of the delirious thematic imagery (more of it here, really) but dashing the consistent lunacy that likely got the show a following in the first place. As someone who liked both Bottoms and Shiva Baby, I’ll admit to preferring the first season, but I still got a lot out of this season’s ruminations on our inevitable corruption and forthcoming destruction. Mulligan and Isaac are shoo-ins for Emmys; the kids did well but pale in comparison. It probably helps that I haven’t seen The White Lotus.
