Anora

Replace much of the rockin’ soundtrack with “Yakety Sax” and I wouldn’t be able to tell it wasn’t specifically composed for this film, and I mean that in a positive way. This was a propulsive film whose two hours flew by, especially the whirlwind second act where the farcical physicality reached its peak. I feel as though praising the direction, writing, and acting is simple reiteration given how Anora went over at award season, but they really were that damn good and mostly deserved wins, a rarity in this artform. Some have complained about the explicit nature, the dumb babies.
