A Man on the Inside (Season One)

The only negative observation I can muster about this, the best sitcom in years, is that the setup indicates a mystery the audience can solve along with the main character, which just isn’t this show. What’s here is a charming, effortlessly amusing season with a surprising emotional core, a show that is optimistic and hopeful without conjuring the sort of insincere glurge too common with supposedly “worthwhile” modern comedies. Every part of this season, from the writing to the cinematography to the acting, felt the result of talented people who (correctly) believed in and cared about this story. A treasure.
