The Strangers
I don’t know if “The Strangers” is the worst film I’ve ever seen; “St. Elmo’s Fire” and “Two Distant Strangers” are strong candidates, and I’m not eager to revisit them for the sake of comparison. “The Strangers” is at least the worst horror film I’ve ever seen, a gaggle of characters with tapioca for brains flailing fruitlessly against homicidal trolls, which might’ve been fine if this was played for comedy rather than strict drama. It’s all shot like the logical dumbass endpoint of the adage “nothing is scarier than nothing” because nothing happens for most of the film. Avoid this.
