The Perfect Neighbor

Most documentaries that People Are Talking About Online Because Algorithm are clinical things that have all the artistic merit of the clickbait articles that sum up what happens in them, but The Perfect Neighbor is a blessed exception. It’s not exceptional, mind—there are plenty more effective and affecting works out there, such as Collective and Dear Zachary—but the method of storytelling makes the audience feel as though they know this neighborhood and care about what happens, and it all feels purposeful without overstating its point. Leagues above the usual crap that ends up in the Netflix top ten.
