The Lighthouse (2019 film)

The repetition of the phrase “Why’d ya spill yur beans?!” sums the film up perfectly. It’s at once hysterical and unsettling in context, a taunting phrase used by someone that has either gone mad or never had his sanity in the first place, and he’s saying it to someone that’s also either drunk or mad. I thought “Midsommar” was a comedy disguised as a horror film, but “The Lighthouse” is both and doesn’t do a disservice to either of its big emotional tones, getting sizable chuckles out of frightening imagery, all building to a perfect ending. Watch this damn film.
