The Humans (2021 film)

You know how the dinner scene in “Beetlejuice” takes on enough conflicting tones that you’re not sure if you’re supposed to find it funny, charming, or unsettling, and you end up freaked out by it? Okay, now imagine that emotional tone being sustained for an entire feature film and you have “The Humans”, a comedy slash drama slash horror(…?) movie about a family trying to maintain their sanity over turkey despite an accursed apartment and each other. The cinematography is fantastic, the writing is on-point, heck, even Amy Schumer turns in a great performance. The best horror-adjacent film of 2021.
