The Fourth Wing (Audio Drama version, part 1 of 2)
“The Fourth Wing”, between its repetitive plot beats, frank and surprising violence, and frequent descriptions of Xaden’s tantalizingly grippable shoulders and magnetic lips, isn’t lacking for gumption but could’ve used more time to work out its kinks (giggity). That energy, though, makes it perfectly digestible as basically a radio play through which some of the questionable syntax is handily recontextualized as teenagers trying their best to find the right words to describe their feelings. It isn’t a flawless production (for starters, Mira’s lines sound recorded from a completely different audio setup) but it’s a spirited seven hours that flew by.
