Spencer (2021 film)

I’d say the idea of Princess Diana devotees hoping “Spencer” would be their idol’s version of “Bohemian Rhapsody” or “Rocketman”, only to be presented with an arthouse horror film, would be the best joke of the year if “Spencer” weren’t as damn good as it is. From the cinematography and staging to Kristen Stewart making the best of her mannerisms to Johnny Greenwood’s excellent score to the nightmarish imagery itself, “Spencer” is all about presenting its subject as someone doing their best to keep their head from exploding and it is a rousing success. The year’s best pure horror film.
