Resident Evil (2026 film)

When video game films suck (which is often), it’s often because they try to service the fanbase while attempting to court larger audiences. A few less-bad joints have tried to appeal to one master, but Cregger’s version argues that translating the essence of the source material is the best solution. Becoming weary of jumpscares, hasty inventory management, and cursing yourself for bad shots are critical elements of the early RE games and they’re marvelously translated here while Resident Evil (2026) also serves as a comic blast of horror for the uninitiated. One of the most enjoyable films of the year.
