Project Mercury
Credit where it is due that “Project Mercury” does a great job of coming across like an NES title, but a good portion of that comes from its pitiful level design. The NES predates many schools of thought on how games should be designed, and in disregarding things like “mapping all functions to buttons automatically” and “giving players enough time and space to fight off threats so they don’t have to memorize the level layout in order to proceed”, “Mercury” DOES come across like an early NES title. There’s no excuse for these mistakes these days, though, so buzz off.
