Possessor

2020 was a year of doubt, terror, unease, and upheaval. No better time to release a horror film like Possessor, in other words. Wrapped up in the considerable gore and alien elements of the presentation (though admittedly far less monstrous than I was expecting given Brandon Cronenberg’s name on the byline) is a story of the toll affecting normalcy takes on an individual. For all the technobabble spilled, Possessor is really about the sort of person who needs to practice saying “hello”, making her, without question, the most relatable horror film protagonist in a long time.
