Gunther vs. John Cena (John Cena’s final match), from the December 13, 2025 episode of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

This was about as good as you could realistically have asked for. Cena, the sentimental favorite, plays the hits and nothing else, while the unsentimental Gunther, trying to lock up his bid of being the best wrestler of the twenty-first century, has none of that sass and does everything he can to choke the shit out of the champ. Expectations were met, not blown, which is sufficient cause for celebration and I’m happy Cena had an easy sendoff. Strange to think I watched Cena’s first and last match as they’ve aired. He likes Behind the Green Door, by the way.
